Facilities

The town is well served with an extremely efficient and active CDEP program, a busy community supermarket, takeaway, social club, sports facilities including hall, swimming pool and oval, an airport, church, health centre, mechanical workshop and civil engineering section.

An active building program is underway with house maintenance and construction being spearheaded by the Council building team.

Power, water and sewerage services are well established with Council carrying out the essential services on behalf of PowerWater Corporation. ABC, Imparja, SBS and Central 7 television as well as ABC and CAAMA radio are received.

The Council promotes an active sporting and recreation program. A local music and singing program is underway. Local art is encouraged through the Merrepen Arts Centre where local artists are involved in painting, silk screen and other work. This is displayed in a newly constructed art gallery and is the theme for the Merrepen Arts Festival held annually.

Education is operated in the community by Catholic Education Office. The school is St. Francis Xavier School, Nauiyu. The Principal is Mrs Miriam-Rose Baumann AM, telephone 8978 2427. There is also a NT Education school on Woolianna Rd. The Principal can be contacted at 8978 2984.

The Nauiyu Health Centre is owned and operated by NT Health and is open daily between 8.30am and 4.30pm weekdays and after hours for emergencies. The Nauiyu Health Centre also provides an ambulance service through the clinic.

Mass is held at the Catholic Church normally every Sunday at 9am and 7pm. The Parish Priest is Father Tom English.
